SpaceX - Crew 2

Launch of SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket on the Crew 2 mission carrying 4 astronauts to the International Space Station. I wanted to capture a shot that embodied what life on the Space Coast of Florida is like and I thought no better way to do that than to start with the Indian River. I kayaked out to a small island on the river, roughly 10 miles from Launch Pad 39A, and was able to work my hammock and kayak into the foreground of the shot. The Falcon 9 lifted off and arced perfectly over the still sable palms that were perched on the eastern end of my little private island. As the upper stage separated from the booster it was high enough to capture the light of the pre-dawn sun and proceeded to light up the sky in a brilliant and unforgettable display. This shot is, and will probably always be, one of my most favorite and treasured I have ever taken.
